Do you do genetic testing on your breeding dogs?
All my dogs are vet evaluated before going into my breeding program and are tested through Embark for both health and traits. The health testing allows me to know if my dogs are at risk for hereditary health conditions themselves or carry the potential to pass genetic risks to their offspring. The trait testing allows me to know a dog's eventual traits — such as size, coat color, texture, and shedding — which can help me make informed decisions about making the perfect matches if my dog's genetic testing meets my strict requirements before being bred. There have been times when I have elected to not breed a particular dog because of the results of this testing. I don't only perform the testing but also take the results seriously.
Do I have to take my puppy at eight weeks of age?
No you do not. However, if you need me to hold your puppy beyond 10 weeks of age, I will gladly do so, but will ask for a daily boarding fee of $10/day, reimbursement for any vet visits, dewormings or vaccines required to keep the puppy on schedule and up-to-date. I take responsibility for vaccines and dewormings prior to the ten week time frame.
Do I receive documentation of any healthcare given to the puppy?
You leave here knowing what health care, vaccines, preventative medicines your puppy has had and when they will be due for next treatment.
What does a microchip do for a puppy?
A microchip helps to keep the puppy safe. If a puppy/dog would ever get lost/stolen, the microchip helps to identify true ownership. Also, if you live in PA, having the microchip (a permanent identification) enable you to get a lifetime permanent license.
Do puppies get any vaccines?
Age-appropriate vaccines (Distemper, Parvo, Type 2 Parainfluenza, Hepatitis and Adenovirus) are given at approximately 7-8 weeks. If a puppy stays with me longer than 8-10 weeks, they will receive appropriate vaccines and the new owner will be responsible for reimbursing for those vaccines.
What is included in the price of the puppy?
Lots of love from the moment they are born until they leave my home and go home with you. Veterinary care including an initial evaluation within 48 hours of birth, between 6-8 weeks of age for health certification, and any time I would have a concern. Puppies are given regular dewormings based on my vet’s recommendations. They receive age-appropriate vaccines. All my puppies are microchipped prior to leaving my home. You receive a puppy packet which includes a ton of information and written documentation on healthcare, dental care, caring for your puppy, training, housetraining, travel, and much more. Lastly, you are given a custom puppy bag filled with a variety of items which varies each litter. This always includes toys and a blanket that has been with the littermates and rubbed on the mom. Other items vary each litter.
Why do you collect sales tax?
I am also required to collect the PA Sales Tax on puppies sold. The current tax rate in PA is 6%. My PA Sales Tax ID Number is 67552987. This money is turned into the state on a quarterly basis.
Do you require a spay/neuter contract?
Puppies are sold as "pet only" unless other arrangements are made. Beginning in 2022, you will be required to pay a $75 deposit in addition to the purchase price listed above which will be reimbursed within 30 days of receipt of a spay/neuter certificate from a licensed veterinarian.
Do you require a Sales Agreement?
All puppies are sold with a Sales Agreement which ensures my puppies are taken care of, receive proper care, do not end up in a rescue/SPCA environment, and are not bred without proper authority. You can click the link to walk through the sales agreement to review its components, however, please do not submit the Sales Agreement until you have actually selected a puppy. Thank you!!
Are your dogs all registered?
My breeding dogs are all registered. Most are registered AKC, however, I do have a few that are ACA. Most are dual registered.
Can I get full AKC rights for breeding?
That is a possibility, however, I very seldom give those rights. You must discuss this option with me and know that there is an charge for these rights.
Is this price for full AKC rights?
No this price is for a limited or no registration and comes with a contract that requires no future breeding.
